Bangladesh’s Mohammad Sakib Molla exited from the recurve boys’ singles at the World Youth Archery Championship in the 1/16 round after losing to France’s Jacquey Clement by 6-5 sets Thursday in Madrid, Spain.
The other Bangladeshi archers fared little better as both Mohammad Hakim Rubel and Mohammad Tamimul Islam bowed out of the recurve singles in the 1/24 round following losses to Russia’s Budaev Sodnom and Chinese Taipei’s Chen Zhao-Sheng respectively by identical margins - 6-4.
In the recurve cadet girls’ singles, Bangladesh’s Mosammat Eti Khatun lost in the 1/16 round to Germany’s Reisenweber Clea by 6-2 sets, while in the recurve cadet boys’ singles category, Bangladesh’s Pradeep Chakma lost to Italy’s Gregori Francesco by 7-3 sets in the 1/24 round.

Meanwhile in the recurve junior girls’ singles, Bangladesh’s Mehnaz Akter Monira lost to China’s Li Kexin by 6-0 sets in the 1/24 round.
In the recurve junior mixed team event, Bangladesh team comprising Sakib and Monira lost by 5-1 sets to Germany.
In the recurve junior boys’ team event, Bangladesh side containing Sakib, Rubel and Tamimul qualified for the 1/8 round, where India lie in wait, after beating Austria by 6-2 sets in the 1/12 round.
