High-scoring Dhaka-Rangpur tie ends in stalemate

Dhaka’s Saif Hassan was adjudged man of the match for his unbeaten 220-run innings

Despite a century from Mahmudullah, Dhaka Metropolis could not avoid defeat against Sylhet Division while Khulna Division earned an easy victory against Rajshahi Division in the last day of the second round matches of National Cricket League Sunday.

In other two matches of the round, the match between Dhaka Division and Rangpur Division ended as a stalemate despite being a high scoring affair while Barisal Division salvaged a draw against Chittagong Division.

In the high scoring affair at Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium, Chattogram, Shuhrawardy Shuvo failed to become the fourth centurion as he got out for 92 and his side, Rangpur got all-out for 508 to give Dhaka, who made 556/8 (dec.) after winning the toss, a 48-run lead. 

Nayeem Islam, who resumed on 124, got out for 135 while another overnight batsman Tanbir Hayder was dismissed for 73. Salahuddin Shakil and Nazmul Islam got three wickets apiece for Dhaka.
