The ICC has condemned the terror attack at two different mosques in Christchurch Friday.

A group of players from the Bangladesh cricket team who went to Masjid Al Noor mosque in Hagley were lucky to have escaped from the horrific incident by a fraction of minutes.

“Our thoughts and sincere condolences go out to the families and friends of those affected by this horrendous incident in Christchurch. Both teams, staff and match officials are safe and the ICC fully supports the decision to cancel the Test match,” said ICC CEO David Richardson in a media statement following the incident.

Following the attack, New Zealand Cricket called off third and final Test between the Kiwis and the Tigers.

The five-day game was scheduled to start at Hagley Oval from Saturday.

The BCB took initiative to send the team back home on an immediate basis following the attack that claimed at least 49 lives.

It is understood that the Bangladesh team members are likely to reach Dhaka in batches due to logistical challenges and the first group is likely to arrive Saturday morning.
