Middle-order batsman Nasir Hossain is set to go under the blade for a torn ligament injury on June 5 in Sydney. According to chief BCB physician Dr Debashish Chowdhury, the cricketer is likely to travel to Australia in the next couple of days.

“Nasir is set to go for surgery in Sydney on June 5 and expected to travel to Australia in the next couple of days. Normally it takes around six months to recover from such injury after surgery,” said Dr Debashish to the media Wednesday.

In April, Nasir tore his right knee ligament while playing football after attending a friend's wedding in Sirajganj. Nasir back then had just finished the Dhaka Premier Division Cricket League season for champion Abahani Limited. The all-rounder had earlier suggested that he injured himself during a running session. The BCB physicians following initial medical reports had ruled Nasir out of action for six months and opted for surgery.
