The 20-year-old weightlifter, who won gold in Commonwealth Championship 2015 and Asian Championship 2016, is expected to participate in the World Weightlifting Championship in Thailand in September and Asian Junior Championship in North Korea in October before the December’s SA Games in Nepal

Mabia Akter Shimanta, the first female weightlifter from Bangladesh to win gold medal in the South Asian Games, poured words of dismay once again for not having sufficient facility and equipment and uttered little hope of winning gold again in such short preparation time.

“We needed a proper and timely planning. A Four-month preparation can never be enough. We should have started preparation at least one and half year ago and then we could hope to win 3-4 gold medals.”

Mabia added, “It will be too tough to win gold again. It would be like a dream. As we now have only four months, we can make impossible possible with more hard works in this short time.”
