An event of poetry exhibition, titled Inked Solace, was inaugurated at the Edward M Kennedy (EMK) Center on Saturday. The poetry exhibition features the work of poet Zubayer Zakir Khan, and will close on Wednesday.

First Secretary of Global Affairs Canada Trina Oviedo, Dean of Business School of Independent University Bangladesh, Dr Professor Mohammad Aminul Karim, RedOrange Media and Communications' Managing Director Arnob Chakrabarty, EMK acting Director Asif Uddin Ahmed, and poet and Executive Committee Member of Jatiya Kabita Parishad Nahar Farid Khan were present at the inauguration ceremony.

According to a press release, the event was titled poetry exhibition because it uses the power of words, and blend them with photography, with the goal of sending out a strong message through a unique visual experience.

Speaking about Zubayer's poem Riot Trina Oviedo said: "If you read the poem from the beginning you will think it is about love, but as you read the last four lines you realize it is about life. The poem basically sums up life."

Arnob Chakrabarty said: "Sometimes poetry is not straight forward, and that is something I have found in Zubayer's work. His poetry allows the audience to draw their own perspective."

The Dean of IUB's Business School, Dr Professor Mohammad Aminul Karim, and poet Nahar Farid Khan talked about poetry, art, and the poems by Zubayer. EMK Center's Acting Director Asif Uddin Kabir gave the closing remarks, in which he mentioned the various activities conducted at the Center, and the reason behind promoting Zubayer's poetry.

Zubayer writes all his poems in English, in which he looks at the world from a different lens, where nothing is absolute. His work also deals with observations, and revelations of everyday life. He is currently working on his poetry anthology, which will be published later this year.

The exhibition is open to all from 9:30am to 8pm everyday till its closing, except Tuesday, which is a government holiday.
