Police have arrested two wounded drug traders after a reported gunfight in Jhenaidah.
They were arrested Sunday afternoon near Mathurapur.
The arrestees are identified as Mamunur Rahman and Jebul Hossain from Ishwarchandrapur village in Damurhuda upazila of Chuadanga district.
Jhenaidah Superintendent of Police (SP) Md Hasanuzzaman said: "After receiving a tip-off, a team of police set up a check post to stop a group of drug peddlers coming from Chuadanga.
"When they stopped a motorcycle for inspection, the motorcyclists attacked police with sharp weapons."
Police fired gunshots at Mamunur and Jebul in retaliation, resulting in a gunfight, he added.
Later, police sent them in a wounded state to Jhenaidah Sadar Hospital.
Police also recovered 66 bottles of phensedyl from the scene.
