Army sergeant killed in Bogra road accident

The incident occurred on the Rangpur-Bogura highway in Rahobol area around 7:30am

An army sergeant has been killed, and five others injured, when a bus overturned in Bogra's Shibganj upazila.

The incident occurred on the Rangpur-Bogura highway in Rahobol area around 7:30am on Saturday.

The deceased is Abdul Aziz, 36, son of Nurul Huda, who hailed from Char Jangalia village of Kamalnagar upazila of Lakshmipur district. He was posted in Bandarban cantonment.

Gobindaganj highway police station Sub-Inspector (SI) Mokhlesur Rahman said the accident occurred when the driver of a Rangpur-bound passenger bus from Chittagong lost control over the steering wheel, causing the vehicle to turn over and fall into a roadside ditch. The accident left the Army sergeant dead on the spot.  

Locals rescued the injured and took them to Shibganj Upazila Health Complex. Police have seized the bus and case has been filed with Shibganj police station.

Officials of Bogra cantonment took Aziz's body to Bogra Shaheed Ziaur Rahman Medical College Hospital morgue for autopsy, he added.
