The 22-year-old python laid eggs for the fourth time
Baby Pythons started to hatch from 32 eggs laid by a 22-year-old python rescued in 1999, at the Bangladesh Bonyo Prani Sheba Foundation zoo on Wednesday.
According to the zoo authorities, the python laid 32 eggs on June 9 and the eggs started to hatch after a month. The zoo authorities decided to let the eggs hatch in their care and provided proper temperature and favorable weather for safe hatching.
Swapan Deb Sajal, Director of the Bonyo Prani Sheba Foundation said: "We hope the hatching will finish on Thursday. We believe that the hatchlings will become valuable breeders in the future.
"This is a milestone towards conserving and breeding pythons. We will take care of the hatchlings at the zoo until they are capable of surviving in the wild. After that, we will release them in their natural habitat," the wildlife centre director added.
The same python laid eggs earlier in 2002, 2004 and 2011 from which 90 hatchlings came out and all of those were released in Lawachhara reserve forest at different times.
