Transport strike underway in Panchagarh

Strike was also called in Thakurgaon, Nilphamari and Dinajpur

An indefinite transportation strike is underway in Panchagarh district.

Eight transport workers unions from Panchagarh called for the strike which began on Thursday morning.

The strike was also called in Thakurgaon, Nilphamari and Dinajpur districts.

Workers called the strike protesting an incident where a Shyamoli Paribahan bus driver, Jalaluddin, was beaten up by an alleged member of Detective Branch (DB) of Police.

Transportation has been halted in all domestic routes of the district. No long route transport has left the district.

Due to the strike, Banglabandha land port has halted product shipment as well.

Panchagarh Motor Transport Workers Union President Md Mosharraf Hossain said: “We will continue our protest and strike till the culprit is arrested and punishment.”
