A scuffle broke has broken out between left leaning student activists and Muktijuddho Mancha, a platform of freedom fighter descendants.

The scuffle was over holding their programs at the anti-terrorism Raju Memorial sculpture of Dhaka University on Friday afternoon.

Witnesses said the two groups clashed over holding their separate programs. Muktijuddho Mancha wanted to hold a program protesting Bangladesh Nationalist Party leader Shamsuzzaman Dudu’s remarks and “DU against Corruption,” while the left leaning platform of students called a solidarity rally protesting the recent admission test scam of Chhatra League leaders.

Socialist Students Front Dhaka University chapter President Salman Siddique said they went to the monument for their  pre scheduled program, but Muktijuddho Mancha leaders and activists had  already occupied the place.  When the left coalition students asked the Muktijiddha Mancha  when their program would end, they came back attacking them.

Salman Siddique added that Muktijuddha Mancha DU chapter President Aminul Islam Bulbul led the attack, leaving at least three of their leaders injured, including Chhatra Front’s DU chapter secretary Pragati Barman Toma, and vice-president Sadikul Islam.

The Mancha leaders and activists also smashed the mobile phone of DU Sociology department student Akram Hossain when he tried to film the clash, said Salman.

Muktijuddho Mancha convener and DU teacher, Professor AKM Jamal Uddin, denied any attack by their activists and termed the incident a "factional clash of the left."
