Nine food shops fined in DMP anti-adulteration drive

They were fined a total of Tk4.30 lakh

A Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) mobile court fined nine fast food shops Tk4.30 lakh in the city's New Market area on Sunday for selling unhygienic food.

The drive was conducted as part of the DMP's ongoing special drive throughout the fasting month of Ramadan, said DMP Deputy Commissioner (Media) Masudur Rahman.

During the drive, led by Executive Magistrate Mohammad Mashiur Rahman, Food Corner was fined Tk1 lakh while Kings Fast Food, Penji Fast Food, Kepray Fast Food, Capital Fast Food, Al Amin Food and Saikat Fast Food were penalised Tk 50,000 each, and Welcome Fast Food and Al Jaber Fast Food were fined Tk 10,000 and Tk 20,000 respectively.

The anti-adulteration drive will continue, Masudur said.
