A youth has been hacked to death in Dhaka’s Adabar area.
The deceased was identified as Jewel, 25, a rider of the online ride-sharing service Pathao.
Jewel died at a hospital in Mirpur on Friday morning.
Confirming the matter, investigation officer of Adabar police station Inspector Shahinur Rahman said: “Some miscreants hacked Jewel to death in Balurmath area of Adabar road 10 around 11pm on Thursday.
"Locals rescued him and took him to Dhaka Medical College Hospital," the inspector said.
Later his family shifted him to a hospital in Mirpur, where he died while undergoing treatment, he added.
The Inspector said: "Two or three months back, the victim's wife, Arjina Begum, filed a case with Adabar police station over a fight incident. We suspect the murder was followed by that incident.
"She has named some suspects and will soon file a case against them."
Police have not arrested anyone yet and still investigating on this matter, he added.
