President Abdul Hamid on Thursday assented to three bills passed in the budget session of the 11th parliament.
The bills are Animal Welfare Bill-2019, Bangladesh Veterinary Council Bill-2019 and Law and Order Disruption (Speedy Trial) (Amendment) Bill, 2019, said a Parliament Secretariat handout.
On July 9, the Law and Order Disruption (Speedy Trial) (Amendment) Bill, 2019 was passed in parliament for extending its validity till 2024, reports UNB.
The duration of the Law and Order Disruption (Speedy Trial) Act, 2002 had expired in April 2019, and its validity has now been extended by five years. No change has been made in the content of the law.
The Animal Welfare Bill 2019 was passed in parliament July 7, in order to stop acts of animal cruelty and duly define the duties of animal owners.
Parliament also passed Bangladesh Veterinary Council Bill, 2019 the same day to maintain professional standards of veterinary practitioners and offer quality care services for addressing animal diseases.
