Urgent aid needed for injured journalist from Rangamati

Prothom Alo Staff Reporter Hari Kishore Chakma had the accident in Rangamati town on Thursday night as he was heading home. He was taken to a clinic in Chittagong at 12:00am after being delayed for two hours in a Rangamati hospital where there were no ambulances. Doctors in Chittagong told the accompanying people there was hemorrhaging in a third of his brain. At 11:30pm Friday Hari was being kept at the high dependency unit (HDU) at the Max Clinic in Chittagong city while his friends and family were waiting for an air ambulance. They told the Dhaka Tribune he would be brought to Dhaka to Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University for surgery. Hari has not gained consciousness since the accident. The air ambulance will reach Chittagong at 2pm. Dipen Chakma, a friend of the journalist, said the cost of the air ambulance alone was Tk2,35,000 and around Tk6-7 lakh would needed for the treatment.
