BNP has announced more programs demanding the release of its Chairperson Khaleda Zia.
The party will form countrywide human chains on March 6 and stage sit-ins on March 8, BNP Senior Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi told the press at the party's Naya Paltan headquarters on Sunday.
Earlier, BNP announced that it would hold a rally at Suhrawardy Udyan in Dhaka on March 12.
On February 8, a Dhaka court sentenced former prime minister Khaleda Zia to five years in jail in the Zia Orphanage Trust graft case and sent her in jail the same day.
Since then, BNP has been organizing different protest programs.
Rizvi alleged the law enforcers were working at the government's directives.
“BNP leaders Azizul Bari Helal, Anisur Rahman Talukdar and Chhatra Dal President Rajib Ahsan were taken into remand in politically motivated false cases,” he said.
He also claimed that BNP Joint Secretary General Moazzem Hosain Alal has been kept in an isolated cell in Kashimpur High Security Prison, which is designated for those who are sentenced to death or life imprisonment.
The pro-Awami League bankers, who are accused of loan scams, are being provided with all state facilities in Keraniganj Central Jail, but BNP leaders have been kept in unhealthy and isolated cells, Rizvi alleged.
The top BNP leader demanded release of all party leaders and activists and withdrawal of all cases filed against them on false grounds.
