College student hacked to death in Barisal

His body was recovered from beside his house on Saturday morning

A college student has been hacked to death by miscreants in Wazirpur upazila of Barisal.

Police recovered the body of Imran Hossain Hawlader, 24, from an abandoned piece of land beside his house on Saturday morning.

Imran was a final-year student of Hazi Taheruddin Islamia Degree College in Bhabanipur of Barisal.

Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Wazirpur police station, Shishir Kumar Pal, said: "A woman discovered Imran's body around 8am. Later, after locals informed us, police went to the scene and recovered his body."

Imran's neck had been hacked with a knife, the OC said. His right wrist had been dislocated from his body, while the rest of his body bore bloody wounds.

The OC further said: "According to locals and Imran's family, on Friday night, Imran was watching the BPL final in his uncle Abul Kalam Azad's house. During the break, Imran went to his room for dinner when he received a phone call and got out of his house. He had been missing ever since."

Imran's body will be sent to the morgue of Sher-E-Bangla Medical College and Hospital for autopsy, the OC said. Police are investigating the incident.
