Obaidul: Damaged roads will be repaired in two weeks

Update : 01 Jan 2018, 06:14 PM
All the damaged roads across the country will be repaired within the next two weeks, Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader said on Monday. Speaking to reporters at the Secretariat on the first day of the year, the minister further said tenders had already been floated for the repair work, which was scheduled to begin soon. In addition, the government-funded four-lane highway projects on Dhaka-Sylhet and Chittagong-Cox’s Bazar routes will be launched during the tenure of the incumbent government, he said. Explaining the reason for delay in installing the second span of the Padma Bridge, Obaidul said: “It was delayed due to technical reasons. The second span is expected to be installed by January.” The minister said the government was aiming to complete the construction of Padma Bridge by December 2018. "However, it may be delayed as we are also trying to ensure quality of work,” he added.
