UK education fair in Dhaka from next week

Like previous years, the British Council will organise the event

The 16th Education UK Exhibition will begin in the city on February 13 with a view to offer the best educational opportunities to Bangladeshi students.

Like previous years, the British Council will organise the event. This year, the exposition will be held in three cities – Dhaka, Chittagong, and for the first time, Sylhet.Robin Davies, director Partnership and Programmes of the British Council Bangladesh, made the announcement at a press conference held at a city yesterday.

“We are increasing our footprints in Bangladesh. Young people are the next generation of Bangladesh. They will play a leading role in the development of the country in next 20 30 years if quality education is ensured,” he added.

The two-day expo will be held at the Grand Ballroom of Hotel Sonargaon. On February 13, the fair will remain open from noon to 7pm while on February 14, from 11am-7pm.

In Sylhet, the expo will be held at Rose View Hotel on February 19 from noon to 7pm while in Chittagong the fair will be held at Zinnia Hall of Paninsula Hotel from 12 noon to 7pm on February 16.

In Dhaka, representatives from 40 renowned university of the UK will be present at the exhibition to answer the queries of Bangladeshi students.

Besides, representative from 12 UK universities will participate in the fair in Chittagong and Sylhet respectively.

Education Minister Nurul Islam Nahid is expected to inaugurate the exhibition in Dhaka.  British High Commissioner to Bangladesh Robert W Gibson will also be present at the fair.

Chittagong City Corporation Mayor Alhaj M Manjur Alam and Sylhet City Corporation Mayor Ariful Haque Chowdhury will inaugurate the exhibition in Chittagong and Sylhet respectively.

Project Manager for Services for International Education Marketing of British Council M Jahir Uddin said participants should register online to visit the exhibition for free. They have to bring registration confirmation and photocopies of their academic documents.

If anyone could not register online, an entry fee of Tk50 is applicable.

A UK Border Agency representative will be available at the British Council stall to answer queries related to the UK visa application process.
